EIZO Unveils TEMPEST-Compliant Monitors for the Protection of Sensitive Information

EIZO today announced the launch of three new DuraVision monitors specialized to protect against the theft and interception of classified or other sensitive information displayed on the screen. In high-security environments, while data encryption and network security are standard practice, screen-level protection remains a potential point of exposure. Even without physical access, images on a monitor can be intercepted using specialized equipment, making on-screen information just as vulnerable as data compromised through direct network access or physical breaches.

All electronic devices, including monitors, emit electromagnetic radiation (EMR) which can be intercepted and analyzed. This allows malicious actors to reconstruct images or text displayed on a screen from a distance, without requiring physical access to the location. As a result, digital eavesdropping has become a significant threat in today’s security landscape, making it essential for organizations that engage in the viewing and sharing of secret or classified information to invest in additional protective measures.

The LE2426, LE3226, and LE4326 monitors have been specifically engineered to protect on-screen information in environments where visual data security is paramount. As part of the DuraVision LE series, these monitors are purpose-built to mitigate the risk of electromagnetic information leakage by significantly reducing electromagnetic interference (EMI) emissions. They serve as a vital layer of physical security that complements existing digital safeguards, helping to ensure the integrity of sensitive data. EIZO has taken comprehensive measures to achieve TEMPEST Level B compliance, reinforcing protection in secure operational settings where confidentiality is critical.

All DuraVision LE monitors are designed, developed, and manufactured at EIZO Technology GmbH’s German factory. Every unit is tested in-house in EIZO’s own electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) chamber located at the same facility to comply with TEMPEST (NATO SDIP-27/2 Level B) and German BSI Zone 1. TEMPEST is a US National Security Agency specification that is recognized by NATO and other organizations to prevent the exploitation of electromagnetic radiation and assess risks of eavesdropping. Similarly, German BSI Zone 1 is a classification used to evaluate IT hardware for secure handling of confidential information, focusing on limiting electromagnetic emissions to counteract threats from electromagnetic effects. TEMPEST Level B (also known as “IMMEDIATE”) and BSI Zone 1 both require that a compliant device be undetectable beyond a distance of 20 meters.

EIZO has over 10 years, experience in developing secure, low emission monitors. The primary source of EMI emissions originates from the monitor panel itself. To address this, EIZO integrated a non-visible, optically adapted micro mesh laminate into each monitor. This fine mesh acts as a shield, reducing signal leakage. Combined with other EMC-optimized structural designs and materials, the monitors achieve strong protection while preserving image clarity and performance.

The monitors are built from industrial-grade aluminium, ensuring a robust construction and high-level of protection against digital eavesdropping. The passive cooling system ensures silent operation in critical environments while maintaining low heat output without impacting performance.

With over 6,500 monitors already deployed in BSI Zone 1 environments, the DuraVision LE series has a proven track record for high-security deployments.

The new DuraVision LE series will be on display between 9th – 12th September 2025 at the DSEI 2025 Defence Exhibition and Trade Show at ExCel London.
