EIZO Releases 5 Megapixel Medical Monitor with Exceptional Brightness for Proficient Monochrome and Color Breast Imaging

EIZO Corporation today announces the release of the RadiForce RX570 – a 21.3-inch 5 megapixel (2048 x 2560 pixels) color monitor designed for optimal hybrid display of monochrome and color medical images. As the successor to the RX560, it is tailored for mammography, breast tomosynthesis, ultrasound and other breast imaging techniques.

Monochrome mammography is a widely recommended breast cancer screening test, with complementary techniques such as color ultrasound further enhancing early detection. Additionally, color imaging tests, including scans and biopsies, are used for further assessment of breast tissue and require a color monitor for accurate evaluation. The RX570 supports the simultaneous display of monochrome mammography and tomosynthesis images (DICOM® Part 14) and color images from ultrasound, MRI, and CT (Gamma 2.2), meeting the needs of medical institutions by supporting each essential imaging technique.

Compared to its predecessor, the RX570 boasts an increased maximum brightness of 1200 cd/m2 (up from 1100 cd/m2) as well as a 2200:1 contrast ratio (up from 1500:1). As a color monitor, it excels in achieving exceptional brightness for high-definition monochrome breast tomosynthesis and mammography images. This ensures medical professionals can view images according to stringent industry standards while conveniently displaying color images on the same screen.

Additionally, the RX570 is newly equipped with EIZO’s Instant Backlight Booster function. This allows users to maintain the monitor at the recommended 500 cd/m2 for standard tasks and, with a single hotkey, instantly boost brightness to the maximum level of 1200 cd/m2 for a seamless user workflow. The brightness automatically reverts to its original level after a set period, ensuring optimal performance for critical image viewing sessions while minimizing strain on the backlight over time.

The RX570 has received FDA 510(k) clearance for digital breast tomosynthesis, digital mammography, and general radiography from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. This ensures that EIZO continues to provide a high level of confidence and reliability to medical breast screening professionals and their patients.

Modern medical imaging workflows require multiple workstations and monitors, which can be complex and impact productivity. To promote a barrier-free workstyle, the RX570 features EIZO’s Switch-and-Go function, allowing users to operate two workstations with a single keyboard and mouse. This enables seamless cursor movement across screens, reducing the need for multiple peripheral devices and enhancing overall workflow efficiency.

In line with EIZO’s commitment to transitioning its products to more environmentally conscious materials and packaging as part of its company-wide sustainability efforts, the RX570’s housing incorporates recycled plastic. The monitor is also packaged using molded pulp made from recycled cardboard and newspaper instead of environmentally unfriendly materials. These efforts help reduce plastic waste, conserve resources, and promote the reuse of materials to preserve the natural ecosystem.
