Wherever sensitive, confidential, or security-critical information is processed, the protection of this data depends on a variety of factors—from cybersecurity and physical access controls to the reliability of the hardware used. While digital security measures have long been standard practice, one potential risk is often underestimated: electromagnetic emissions from technical devices. For companies and organizations with high security requirements, however, these emissions can represent a vulnerability that should not be underestimated when it comes to information loss.

Ear Protection

Tempest-compliant monitors

The monitors in the Low Emission series are specifically designed for high-security environments to protect against theft and interception of confidential or other sensitive information displayed on the screen. Thanks to their low electromagnetic emissions, these devices prevent external electronic devices from reading the displayed content. EIZO Low Emission monitors meet international TEMPEST requirements and are TEMPEST-compliant in accordance with NATO SDIP-27 Level B and the German BSI Zone 1 standard.

TEMPEST-certified monitors are traditionally used in security-critical areas, particularly by defense agencies and intelligence services. However, awareness of electromagnetic emissions is also growing in other sectors. Today, information security is viewed in a broader context and extends beyond networks and software. This applies, for example, to critical infrastructure, ports, and energy utilities. Conclusion: Protection against compromising electromagnetic emissions is becoming increasingly important in the context of Technical Surveillance Countermeasures (TSCM).

Technical Surveillance Countermeasures (TSCM)

Technical Surveillance Countermeasures (TSCM) encompass measures to protect against technical surveillance and espionage. Electromagnetic emissions are increasingly becoming a focus of attention in this context. TEMPEST-compliant monitors play an important role in reducing this risk and support a comprehensive security strategy.

Made in Germany

100% designed and developed in-house by EIZO

In addition to development, EIZO is also 100% responsible for manufacturing the devices at its production facility in Geretsried, near Munich, Germany. There, EIZO has its own EMC test chamber, where the emission characteristics of the monitors are analyzed and relevant EMC properties are tested.

Designed for safety right from the factory

Low Emissions Instead of Retrofit Modifications

Many TEMPEST monitors are based on standard monitors that are retrofitted with security components. This approach is well-established but presents certain challenges. Since certification is tied to the specific base model, new product generations require retesting. Short product life cycles can therefore compromise long-term availability.

Carefully selected components with long-term availability form the foundation of EIZO Low Emission monitors and ensure reliable TEMPEST solutions for many years to come. EIZO Low Emission monitors are designed right from the factory to generate only minimal electromagnetic emissions and to meet the required security standards. This eliminates the need for additional adjustments or modifications.
